SHAH ALAM - The Road Transport Department (RTD) has launched an investigation into a viral case involving a man driving a car while his female companion sat facing him without wearing a seatbelt.
RTD senior enforcement director Datuk Muhammad Kifli Ma Hassan said the department will take action against both the driver and the passenger.
"Action will be taken against them (the driver and passenger).
"The investigation is still ongoing and once completed, we will issue summonses against them," he said when contacted on Wednesday.
Video footage and images that went viral on the Threads app showed the man driving while the woman sat facing him, leaning against the dashboard, without a seatbelt — drawing sharp criticism from netizens.
