The Road To Gold committee is ready to reconsider national track cycling legend Muhammad Azizulhasni Awang if he meets the top eight world ranking criteria.

THE Road To Gold (RTG) committee is considering including national track cycling legend Datuk Muhammad Azizulhasni Awang in the elite programme.

Road To Gold coordinator Datuk Stuart Ramalingam said the rider who is nicknamed The Pocket Rocketman must meet the criteria set, which is to be in the top eight in the world.

“For the RTG programme, we hope that Datuk Azizulhasni’s performance, which has been improving over time, can be accepted into the RTG programme. We are always open to Datuk Azizulhasni coming back to RTG.

“But as everyone knows, the RTG criteria are clear, once they reach the top eight in the world, they will be automatically accepted back,” he said yesterday.

For the record, Aziulhasni is currently ranked 23rd in the world as a result of two gold medals in the keirin event at the recent World Cup Track Series.

In addition, he also excelled in winning bronze in the individual sprint event at the World Cup Track Series held in Nilai and Perth, Australia.
