Russia and North Korea open first road bridge across border

Russia and North Korea opened their first road bridge across their shared border on Monday, marking a new development in ties between the two countries.

The one-kilometre bridge spans the Tumen River and has two lanes, with the newly built crossing expected to handle up to 300 vehicles a day.

Footage shows officials from both countries cutting ribbons to mark the opening, followed by trucks and other vehicles crossing the bridge. The project was agreed in 2024 and construction began last year.
