POLICE recorded 46 road accidents involving motorcyclists during the four-day RXZ Members 8.0 programme period, with 11 cases resulting in fatalities.
Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) director Datuk Seri Muhammed Hasbullah Ali said the accidents were recorded from Thursday until Sunday.
Of the total cases, 11 or 23.91 per cent involved fatal accidents, five cases or 10.87 per cent involved serious injuries, while 30 cases or 65.22 per cent involved minor injuries.
"Based on the daily breakdown, four cases were recorded on July 30, 16 cases on July 31, 11 cases on Aug 1 and 15 cases on Aug 2," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
An analysis of the age profile of those involved showed that individuals aged between 21 and 30 recorded the highest involvement, with 19 people or 41.30 per cent.
This was followed by those aged between 18 and 20 with 10 people, the 41 to 50 age group with nine people, and those aged between 31 and 40 with eight people.
The majority of those involved were male, with 44 individuals or 95.65 per cent, while two individuals or 4.35 per cent were female.
Rear-end collisions recorded the highest number of cases with 21 incidents, followed by self-accidents involving loss of control with 15 cases, side collisions with seven cases and sideswiping incidents with three cases.
Hasbullah said the 11 fatal accident cases were being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act (APJ) 1987, while five serious injury cases were investigated under Section 43(1) of the same Act.
Minor accident cases were investigated under relevant traffic regulations.
He said authorities viewed seriously the number of fatal and serious accidents recorded, particularly those involving young motorcycle riders.
Among the causes identified were negligence, failure to control vehicles, following other vehicles too closely and unsafe riding practices that endangered both riders and other road users.
Hasbullah also urged organisers of motorcycle-related programmes to prepare proper movement plans, provide safety briefings and cooperate with enforcement authorities to minimise accident risks.
"JSPT will continue to increase monitoring and enforcement against traffic offences that may endanger road users. Strict action will be taken against any individual found violating the law or riding dangerously.
"Do not allow the excitement and enthusiasm of participating in any programme to become a reason for neglecting personal safety and the safety of other road users," he said. - August 4, 2026
