Ghost Rider MCU movie

One of Marvel’s most iconic antiheroes is finally revving into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During its blockbuster Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con 2026, Marvel Studios officially announced Ghost Rider, with Ryan Gosling set to lead the supernatural superhero adventure film. Here’s everything we know about the upcoming MCU movie Ghost Rider, including its release window, cast and story details.

Long rumoured to be joining the MCU, Ghost Rider is finally getting a standalone Marvel Studios film. The upcoming superhero flick reunites Gosling with Star Wars: Starfighter director Shawn Levy, while marking the first MCU solo outing for the Spirit of Vengeance.

What is the release date of the MCU movie Ghost Rider?

Marvel Studios has confirmed that Ghost Rider will be released in theatres in 2028. The announcement was made during the studio’s Hall H presentation at San Diego Comic-Con 2026. An exact release date has not yet been announced.

Who’s in the cast of Ghost Rider?

Ryan Gosling has officially been cast as Ghost Rider, marking his Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige introduced the actor during the Hall H presentation before Gosling took the stage to celebrate the announcement.

Speaking about the role, Gosling said, “Wow, is this really happening? As you know, this is a character I’ve wanted to play for a very long time.”

The actor also praised director Shawn Levy, telling the audience that “only one director” could bring Ghost Rider to the big screen before welcoming Levy onstage.

Levy, who previously directed Deadpool & Wolverine, revealed that the project grew out of conversations the pair had while working on Star Wars: Starfighter.

“As Ryan started talking about his vision for this character, we started riffing,” Levy said. “And I finally said, ‘Bro, let’s ride.’ So guys, we’ll see you in 2028.” (via Marvel)

What’s the plot of the movie?

Marvel Studios has not revealed the official plot of Ghost Rider. Story details remain tightly under wraps, with the studio only confirming that Ryan Gosling will play the titular motorcycle-riding antihero.
