FIFA has leaned heavily into star power during the early World Cup ceremonies, turning opening matches into entertainment events as much as sporting occasions.
Mexico’s tournament launch carried that same celebrity-driven tone with Shakira, Tyla and other stars, while Canada’s opener featured a homegrown feel with Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez and Michael Bublé involved in the build-up around Toronto Stadium.
But singers and bands are not the only way a World Cup crowd gets a famous face. Canada’s debut against Bosnia and Herzegovina also drew attention in the stands, where two Hollywood stars were spotted: Ryan Reynolds and Mike Myers.
Ryan Reynolds and Mike Myers spotted at Canada vs Bosnia in contrasting looks

Reynolds and Myers are two of Canada’s most recognisable entertainment exports, but they arrived with very different matchday styles.
Reynolds, the Vancouver-born actor best known for Deadpool and his work with Wrexham AFC, kept things understated. He wore an all-white outfit, pairing a long-sleeve button-up with a T-shirt underneath.
Myers, by contrast, leaned fully into supporter mode. The Scarborough-born actor and comedian, famous for Wayne’s World, Austin Powers and Shrek, wore a Canada jersey and a red bucket hat.
The contrast captured two versions of celebrity fandom. Reynolds looked relaxed and polished, while Myers dressed like someone ready to join the chants from the first whistle.
Canada’s match already carried major significance as the country’s first men’s World Cup game on home soil. Having two famous Canadian faces in the crowd only endorsed the importance of the occasion.
