Michael O’Leary, CEO of Irish airline Ryanair, has criticised European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen’s green policies, arguing that they add “complexity and cost”. He also branded the European Parliament a “ship of fools”, claiming its green laws are driving up the cost of air travel.
O’Leary is set to announce Ryanair’s winter schedule as the airline cuts one million seats in countries including Belgium, following an increase in air passenger taxes, and Germany, which he has described as “hopelessly uncompetitive”.
