- Ryanair will close its airport bag drop desks 60 minutes before scheduled departure instead of 40 minutes from Tuesday 10 November.
- The change affects the 20 per cent of passengers who check in luggage with the airline, providing extra time to clear airport security and passport control.
- The remaining 80 per cent of travellers carrying hand luggage only will be unaffected and can proceed straight to security after online check-in.
- Ryanair's Dara Brady said the policy adjustment aims to minimise the number of passengers missing flights during busy travel periods.
- Separately, chief executive Michael O'Leary warned that European airfares could increase by up to 20 per cent due to surging jet fuel prices.
