Kota Kinabalu: The declining trend in accident cases and fatal accidents during this year’s Chinese New Year celebration was also recorded in Sabah.
Director of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Bukit Aman, Datuk Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri, said this trend aligns with the national-level decrease, and efforts would be intensified to maintain the downward trend.
Advertisement“Throughout Op Selamat, the overall accident rate in Sabah decreased by 13 per cent compared to Op Selamat 2024. “Therefore, we will continue to strengthen our efforts to ensure that this reduction in accident rates is sustained, ultimately ensuring the safety of road users in the State,” Yusri said.
He said various initiatives would be implemented, including preventive measures and advocacy programmes to raise public awareness of road regulations and compliance with authorities’ directives, particularly the police.

According to Yusri, the visit aimed to update Musa on traffic safety developments and JSPT’s efforts to increase road users’ awareness and reduce accident rates in Sabah.

Also present were JSPT Deputy Director (II) ACP Fauzi Osman, Kuala Lumpur JSPT Chief ACP Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa and Sabah JSPT Chief Superintendent Rosdi Mat Jusoh.
