
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah is being repositioned as the green development State with focus on renewable energy and this is being promoted by the Sabah Ministry of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship to attract investments from East Asia and Europe.
Sabah has attracted South Korean SK Group subsidiary SK Nexilis which has set up a copper foil manufacturing facility in KKIP which will be part of SK Group’s electric vehicle value chain.
The RM2.3 billion plant aims to start operation in the first half of 2024 and plans to produce 50,000 tons of copper foil for batteries per year, and Kibing Group of China which manufactures PV solar glass, both kinds of products are to the green renewable energy industry.
