Sabah BN chief urges end to slogans, calls for real federal-state cooperation

THERE must be a clear understanding between state and federal governments before allocations can be channelled and negotiations can proceed, said Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chief Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin during the launch of the ‘Inspirasi Wanita Luar Biasa Latihan Teknikal dan Vokasional (TVET) Jelita GiatMara 2025’ programme on Saturday.

He emphasised that the people of Sabah need leaders who are open-minded and committed to cooperation between the state and the federal government — not those who engage in performative politics and empty rhetoric.

“This constant refrain of ‘Sabah for Sabahan’, ‘local party’, and ‘we take care of our own’ – and yet videos keep surfacing,” he remarked.

In light of this, the BN Sabah chairman urged the party machinery, especially the Women’s wing, to position Barisan Nasional as the voters’ platform of choice in the upcoming state elections.

“We must present UMNO and BN as the preferred choice for voters, and our preparations are well underway. For the past three years, my UMNO and BN colleagues and I have worked to strengthen our machinery — and by the grace of God, it seems there are no obstacles ahead.

“This thorough preparation must be well-organised. Women should not contradict the existing system. Cooperation is crucial if we are to move forward. That’s the only way — we cannot stop halfway,” he said. - September 27, 2025
