KUALA LUMPUR: National junior karate athlete Ivy Olivera Donny won the women’s Under-21 (U21) individual kata gold medal at the 24th Asian Cadet, Junior and U21 Karate Championships 2026 in Amman, Jordan, on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old Sabah-born athlete delivered a dominant performance in the final, defeating Iran’s Ailin Baharijavadhesari 4-1 to secure the gold medal on the second day of competition at Prince Hamzah Hall.
Meanwhile, national junior karate athlete Muhammad Arif Hafizi Hishamadi missed out on gold after losing in the men’s U21 individual kata final.
The 20-year-old Ipoh-born athlete was beaten 5-0 by United Arab Emirates (UAE) competitor Rami Fawzi Abu in the final.
On Tuesday, Nur Aneesa Aira Mohamad Affendi won Malaysia’s first gold medal in the junior women’s individual kata event after defeating her Taiwanese opponent, Chen Po-Jen, 4-1.
The championship is being held from Sept 8 to 11.
