KOTA KINABALU – Sabah police are asking for the public’s help to track the whereabouts of a man who allegedly cheated several individuals of RM1.93 million for a bogus road upgrade project.
Sabah police commissioner Datuk Idris Abdullah said they have received eight police reports against one Datuk Yusri Yusuh for taking deposits from the individuals who were allegedly told they would be awarded road upgrading contracts.
“The commercial division is now investigating the case involving eight police reports and losses amounting to RM1.93 million.
“In this case, a man known as Datuk Yusri Yusuh allegedly deceived his victims by offering non-existent road upgrading projects.
“To get the projects, the victims were asked to pay deposits,” he said.
“Believing the suspect, the victims paid the man between RM30,000 and RM650,000, taking the total losses to RM1.93 million,” he said in a statement here today.
Idris said police are now looking for the man to facilitate their probe.
“Anyone who knows the suspect or where he lives can call the nearest police station or investigating officer Tilmanshah Wasli at 016-578-5962 or 088-529-761,” said Idris.
He added that the case is being probed under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property. – The Vibes, June 28, 2022
