Kota Kinabalu: The upcoming State-level National Day and Sabah Day celebrations on Aug 31 will highlight unity and togetherness through a series of multicultural performances, said Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun.
Masidi, who is the organising chairman, said the dual celebrations aim to reinforce the spirit of "one nation, one country" while strengthening patriotism and confidence, particularly among the younger generation.
The morning National Day programme at Dataran Bandaraya will begin at 6am, featuring a parade of 180 contingents alongside flag-raising ceremonies, the Rukun Negara pledge, and a march-past.
The Sabah Day celebration will take place at night with a focus on youth and cultural heritage, highlighted by laser shows, traditional dances, and the official proclamation by the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sabah.
Organisers expect a crowd of up to 40,000 people for each session, with additional viewing screens set up at selected locations for the public.
