Sabah exponents bag six golds at Selangor meet

Kota Kinabalu: MBV Taekwondo Club Sabah (WTF) captured six golds, four silvers and two bronzes at the MBW International Taekwondo Championship held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional in Kajang, Selangor last weekend.

The gold medal winners were Nur Dalila Hafieya Mohd Zelma, Nur Darwisyah Husna Mohd Zelman, Zulfawwaz Ezech Mohd Zulkhairul Nizam, Putri Cinta Elysha Madrin and Sharina Shahrom in the poomsae event and another gold from Andreas Tham Zhen How in the kyorugi event.

Three of the silvers also came in the poomsae event through Izah Qhalesya Mohd Izmir, Charis Leong En Xuan, Nikita Orow and Aryssa Frederick A Ligadu with one by Kiera Abigail Johan in the kyorugi, while the two bronzes delivered by poomsae exponents Aryssa Frederick A Ligadu and Sharina Shahrom.

The 18-member team was led by club’s head coach Grand Master Barry Voon assisted by Timothy Felix Chin, Ramlee @ Kamal Gani and Noor Hanako Oike with Celina Tang as manager.

Barry said it provided good exposure for his athletes to compete at the international level and hoped the experience will help to improve their self-confidence.
