Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Fire and Rescue Department is bolstering its manpower in preparation for the final phase of the Northeast Monsoon season in the State.

Newly-appointed Sabah Fire and Rescue Director Mohd Pisar Aziz said various measures are being implemented, including deploying additional auxiliary firefighters, with the force now reaching 350 personnel.

“We have just completed training for 101 new auxiliary firefighters and we are confident this expansion will ease the workload of regular personnel while improving fire and rescue efficiency, particularly in rural and remote areas,” he told reporters after a courtesy call on Head of State Tun Musa Aman at the Istana Seri Kinabalu, Tuesday.

“Aside from introducing myself as the new Director, I also updated him on our operational readiness for the remaining monsoon period and current flood situations in districts like Beaufort and Sook,” he said.

Prior to his Sabah posting, Mohd Pisar served as Melaka Fire and Rescue Director and brings extensive experience in fire investigation and safety operations.
