KOTA KINABALU: The landslide at Kampung Cenderakasih, which killed one and left six missing, along with widespread floods across town has reignited criticism over Sabah’s town planning and lack of infrastructure.

Parti Bumi Kenyalang Sabah Chairman Datin Soh Kee Suat said the state’s vulnerability is rooted in decades of poor planning and insufficient funds, as federal tax revenues have not been fully returned to Sabah as promised.

"To solve all these problems, the best way is for Sabah to exit from Malaysia so that Sabah can control its own funds and development and not be controlled by Malaya or by the federal government," she stressed.
