Sabah Government backs young music talents

Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Government remains committed to supporting young talent from the State in the national music industry.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Datuk Mazlan @ Joehari Manan said the State Government would continue supporting initiatives such as the 16th Sabah Artists Song Chart Awards (CLAS16), organised by Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) Sabah.

“The State Government, under the leadership of Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, will look at this comprehensively to provide contributions, assistance and whatever is needed to elevate the status and talents of Sabah’s young people.

“These talents can be translated into economic opportunities and income for talented Sabahans in the entertainment industry.

“I hope talented young people in Sabah will remain active in producing creative works, develop their abilities and improve their existing quality and credibility.

“Continue striving, nurturing your interests and developing your abilities so that one day you can elevate and bring pride to Sabah at a higher level,” he said when met by the media after the CLAS16 finale at the Auditorium of the Sabah Department of Culture and Arts (JKKN) here.

Meanwhile, Mazlan said the organisation of CLAS16 served as a form of recognition for the State’s arts practitioners, encouraging them to continue producing creative works and improve their abilities to compete at a higher level.

“The programme has a positive impact on entertainment industry practitioners while motivating and encouraging artistes to remain active and improve their quality and credibility.

“The event also serves as a platform to elevate the abilities and talents of Sabahans to a higher level in the national music industry,” he said.

He also expressed his appreciation to and congratulated RTM Sabah and JKKN Sabah on the successful organisation of the programme as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the local music industry.

Also present were RTM Sabah Director Mohd Yusni Mohamed Ali, JKKN Sabah Director Marina Abu Bakar, RTM Sabah Assistant Director and Programme Producer Felix Lee Leng Pink, and RTM Sabah Radio Section Chief Assistant Director Aritika Mabni @ Matbee.
