Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association returned with one bronze medal at the Karate One Youth League held in Manila, Philippines last weekend.
The medal was delivered by Muhd Zaheer Zainal, who competed in the Under-14 kumite male -50kg category.
Secretary general Julian Chin was satisfied with the performance from the 30-member squad despite taking home only a bronze.
“The competition has set a very high standard with the presence of many world class athletes. To return with a bronze is itself a significant achievement with the strong field we encountered.
“We would need to engage in more aggressive training and early preparation to enhance our chances of winning a gold medal next year,” he said.
