Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Karate Association (SKA) will be sending four athletes to participate in the Karate1-Series A Indonesia 2022 Championship to be held at the Istora Gelora Bung Karno, Senayan, Jakarta from November 18-20.
The four names listed are the kata trio of Mohd Haznil Henry, Mohd Azhad Haziq Henry and Clevelence Carlos who won gold in the recent Malaysia Games (Sukma) and kumite exponent Michel Linus who also delivered a team gold in kumite as well as silver in the individual women’s -55kg kumite category.
SKA secretary general Julian Chin said they are not setting any medal target for the State contingent led by team manager Richard Ajak and coach Josvin Jase.
“This is a world class competition and the main target is for them to learn from the experience.
“It will do them good if they manage to clear the opening two rounds,” he said on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, four other Sabahans Amirah Syahirah Azlan, Lovelly Anne Robberth, Niathalia Sherawinnie Ak Yampil and Naccy Nelly Evvaferra will also be taking part in the competition but under the national banner.
