
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s keglers shone on the opening day of the Sarawak Hornbill Team Cup 2023 bowling tournament held at the 40 AMF Synthetic lanes, Megalanes EMart at Batu Kawah, in Kuching, Sarawak on Wednesday.
They captured one gold in the singles event through Emmanuel Fo with 900 pins (long oil) and two silvers from Intan Qistina (893-long oil) and Md Noer Said (859-short oil).
Emmanuel was delighted with the win and thanked all those who have given him their support.
“I’m very happy to win the singles title and I want to say my deepest appreciation to my parents, coaches, all the officials from Sabah Tenpin Bowling Association (STBA), friends for their support and also for the blessing of God.

Both he and Intan vowed to focus on the doubles event which started on Thursday.
Noer, on the other hand, lamented a couple of mistakes that cost him the title.
“I was confident to finish in the top three positions after seeing many struggling with the difficult oil condition at the start.
“In the end, I could have actually won the title, but two simple ‘spare’ mistakes cost me to lose by only 17 pins to the champion,” he said.
All three also expressed their gratitude to the Youth and Sports Ministry and Sabah Sports Council for their support.
Meanwhile, STBA deputy president and head of contingent Aisyah Abdullah was pleased with the encouraging start and urged the bowlers to continue to focus on the following doubles, trio and team events.
Sabah team A were in second place in the overall event behind leaders Sunway Megalanes on day one.
In third place was Sabah B followed by Sabah F in fourth, and all top four teams were only separated by mere five points.
