RANAU: The Sabah Koko Cluster Cooperative Berhad (KKKSB) has now managed to collect a total financial amount of almost RM2 million after five years of its establishment, thus proving the body’s ability to move even further.
Director-General of the Malaysian Cocoa Board (LKM), Datuk Dr. Ramle Haji Kasin said that the success is something that encourages and drives the cooperative to continue to improve its achievements.
“It is understood that the total financial amount of KKKSB until 28 August 2025 is RM1,950,865.77. Heartiest congratulations and appreciation to KKKSB for this achievement.
“In addition, the KKKSB logo has also been registered and included in the Trademark Register at the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia. This is another significant achievement in the development of the organization.
“Furthermore, KKKSB has also received the Anugerah Koperasi Harapan in conjunction with the National Cooperative Day 2025 (HKN 2025) Opening Ceremony held at MITC, Ayer Keroh, Melaka recently,” he said.
According to Dr. Ramle, KKKSB’s net profit based on audited accounts has seen an increasing trend starting with a total of RM92,760.60 in 2020, RM86,106.47 (2021), RM70,277.68 (2022), RM167,005.73 (2023) and (2023) and a jump of RM716,936.32 in 2024.
“This increase in profit proves that KKKSB can indeed go further,” he said.
At the LKN level, he said, a major program has been successfully implemented, namely the Malaysian International Cocoa Fair 2025 (MICF 2025) on 24-27 May 2025 at SICC, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and KKKSB has also successfully taken advantage of the opportunity in the event.
“KKKSB was involved in sales at the Malaysian International Cocoa Exhibition (MICE) during MICF 2025 and KKKSB earned a net sales profit of RM13,181.80,” he said.
He was speaking when officiating the Fifth Annual General Meeting of KKKSB that was held at the Lohan Rest House Ranau on Monday.
“For me, what KKKSB has done is all with one goal in mind, success in the medium and long term in terms of improving the economic level of KKKSB members.
“KKKSB is just six years old, having been registered on December 20, 2019. It is still young, but it is not impossible for KKKSB to move swiftly to achieve success.
“The establishment of this cooperative is to create a farmer group system that we have been doing for a long time. Continue this culture to create our progress together,” he said.
The main activities of KKKSB are the purchase and sale of dried cocoa beans; the sale of cocoa-based products; and services to provide labor.
Meanwhile, Dr. Ramle said, the Ranau Highland Cocoa Cluster (RHCC) Complex is expected to be completed this year in Kg Napong, Ranau and KKKSB can make RHCC one of its sources of high income.
He said, RHCC was established with the aim of being a One Stop Centre, and many business opportunities can be implemented such as providing a stopover with basic facilities such as toilets, eateries and petrol stations.
“KKKSB can also use the nursery facilities that are available at RHCC. KKKSB can also provide homestay and car rental services at RHCC.
“All of this will generate income for KKKSB. KKKSB needs to establish good cooperation with SKM and ANGKASA because they have funds from the government to develop cooperatives in terms of business opportunities, financial assistance, advisory services, training and marketing,” he said.
Dr. Ramle expresses his gratitude to all the Cooperative Board Members (ALK) and KKKSB employees for the trust and responsibility that has been carried out.
“It is hoped that the ALK KKKSB will continue to unite, maintain equality, harmony and consensus in order to strengthen the purpose of establishing this cooperative.
Thank you also to the staff under the Malaysian Cocoa Board project who serve directly with KKKSB,” he explained.
Also present were the Director of Biotechnology and Chairman of KKKSB, Dr Albert Ling Sheng Chang, Director of Technology Transfer and Development, Abdul Karem Che Hamid, Chairman of the Ranau Cocoa Growers Association (PPKR) and BOD LKM and Deputy Chairman of KKKSB Bidi Bongkok, ALK and members of KKKSB and others.
