Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Para Sukma athletes added 16 more gold, seven silver and two bronze medals in Sarawak at press time on Tuesday.
However, the hosts managed to extend their lead with 35 golds, 22 silvers and 23 bronzes, while Sabah are in second place with 28 golds, 14 silvers and 10 bronzes.
The highlight for the State contingent was the record-breaking performances by gold medal winning swimmers Ethan Khoo and Shahafiq Abdullah.
Ethan, who broke the 100m backstroke S14 (1:05.20) on Monday, set another new mark in the men’s 200m freestyle S14 (2:03.77) while Shahafiq rewrote the men’s 100 freestyle S6 time (1:17.18).

The other gold medal winners were Jericho Hedryl Harry (men’s long jump T46/T47), Mohd Hanif Burhanudin (men’s discus F44/F64), Elissieball Jonal (women’s 400m T20), Mohd Razy Hafizul Mohamad (men’s 400m T20), Ivan Jovic Suan (men’s 400m T44), Fredechi Asri (women’s shot put F40), Mukhriz Ameer Izzuddin Abdul Rauf (men’s 400m T47) and Elvsius John (men’s shot put F56/F57 4.0kg) from track and field.
The table tennis players also did well to win three gold medals through Mohd Nazizul Hamzah (standing singles 6-7), Muhd Lizan Mat Sittim (men’s wheelchair singles 1-3) and the men’s standing doubles MD18 (Aliff Aldih/Brady Chin Zi Rong), while the other two golds came from lawn bowls - open pairs B7 (Amoster Alex Henry Inter/Jaideh Jaffar) and tenpin bowler Azuan Amir Hassan (open singles TPB1).
The silver medals were delivered by Mohd Fauzan Ramlan (men’s powerlifting 107kg), Ammrin Sani (men’s table tennis wheelchair singles 1-3), Jonathan Wong Zee Siang (men’s swimming 200m freestyle S4/S5), Lidwina Isidore Andilar (archery women’s compound W2) and track and field athletes Adelee Martin (men’s discus F44/F64), Shamli Waidi (men’s javelin F36) and Freddy Waldie (men’s shot put F54).
The three bronze medals came from Mohd Khairul Nizam Sulaiman (table tennis men’s standing singles 6-7), Mohd Khairi Military Lorin (men’s shot put F54) and Sabaruddin Bacho (men’s discus F35).
