Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat (SSMJ) strongly denied any involvement in the dissemination of false financial aid, grant or special scheme offers being circulated via WhatsApp, private messages and other unofficial channels.

In a statement Friday, SSMJ said it had detected several attempts by irresponsible individuals to use its name to deceive the public with false offers purportedly issued by the secretariat.

“For the record, SSMJ has never issued any form of financial aid, grant or special scheme offer to the public through any unofficial communication channel,” said the statement.

According to SSMJ, all official announcements or offers will only be made through the official channels of the State Government or the official SSMJ portal.

The public is therefore advised to remain vigilant and not be easily deceived by suspicious messages using the name of SSMJ.

SSMJ also reminded the public not to share personal information or make any financial transactions with unknown parties and to immediately lodge a police report if they receive messages suspected to be fraudulent. “SSMJ urges the public to obtain verified information through the official website of the State Government and the official SSMJ social media platforms,” it added.

With this clarification, SSMJ hopes the public will remain cautious and not fall victim to any scam tactics misusing the name of the Sabah Maju Jaya Secretariat.
