Kota Kinabalu: A total of 12 teams from six zones are taking part in the ongoing Sabah National Women’s League Football tournament that began at the Sabah Football Association (Safa) pitch on Thursday.

The teams involved are North West Coast A, South West Coast A, East Coast B, West Coast A, South East Coast A, South West Coast B, Upper Interior A, South East Coast B, West Coast B, East Coast A, Upper Interior B and North West Coast B.

The opening ceremony of the three-day competition was officiated by Safa secretary general Dato Jelani Hamdan who is also the women’s football committee chairman.

Also present were the committee’s deputy chairwoman Datuk Fadilah Sarbi and Safa executive secretary David Wisom.

Jelani who hopes more new talents will be spotted during the competition and absorbed into the state team in the future also expressed his appreciation to all the zones’ coordinators and team managers for their efforts and commitment in preparing their teams.
