SIPITANG: Sabah Oil & Gas Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (SOGDC) on Friday signed a Land Sublease Agreement with PFLNG 3 Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas), in a formal ceremony held at the Sipitang Oil & Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP).

The agreement is for the lease of land parcels in SOGIP Sabah that will be used by Petronas for the development of its third Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) facility.

SOGDC was represented by CEO/Managing Director of SOGDC) while Petronas PFLNG 3 Sdn Bhd was represented by Azrul Roshazli Abdul Rahman (CEO) and M. Afiq Ahmad,Sabah Minister of Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe witnessed the signing together with SOGDC Chairman Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Senior General Manager of Global Human Resources Petronas Maria Teo, incoming CEO/Managing Director of SOGDC Azmir Ramli, as well as the Members of the SOGDC Board of Directors.

The signing marks Petronas’ second project at SOGIP, following the integrated ammonia and urea production complex.

The ceremony also featured a memento exchange, group photo session, and followed by a site visit by the delegates.

SOGDC Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer Datuk Harun Ismail said the agreement marks another important milestone in positioning SOGIP as a leading oil and gas hub in the region, while significantly contributing to Sabah’s economic growth.

He said projects like this are expected to have a multiplier effect in enabling economic growth in Sabah, as well as nurturing Sabahan talents and contractors.”He added the shore-based FLNG is designed to produce up to 2 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG and is presently targeted to commence commercial operations in the second half of 2027.

SOGDC is steadfastly committed to strengthen Sabah’s oil and gas industry while creating greater economic opportunities and employment for the state.
