Kota Kinabalu: Plans are underway to achieve Sabah's RM100 billion Gross Domestic Product (GDP) target by 2030 under the Sabah Maju Jaya (SMJ) development agenda, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
His speech was delivered by Assistant Minister to the Chief Minister Datuk Ceasar Mandela Malakun at the opening of the Sabah Energy Corporation (SEC) Planning Annual Conference (Pace) with Edge Summit here on Thursday.
Hajiji said reliable and affordable energy remains a critical requirement for industrial growth, noting that incoming investors need certainty over electricity and gas supplies, pricing, and delivery timelines rather than vague promises.
He pointed out that natural gas will continue to anchor the State's energy requirements alongside renewable alternatives, backed by projections that Sabah's gas supply could rise from 700 million to 1,350 million standard cubic feet per day by 2030.
Commending SEC’s performance and expansion under its Peta 2030 initiative, the Chief Minister urged other State agencies and government-linked companies to end silo practices and strengthen coordination to keep Sabah competitive against rival investment destinations.
