
THE Kapayan and Moyog constituencies are set for extraordinary multi-cornered contests in Sabah’s 17th state election (PRN17) on 29 November, with 13 and 12 candidates respectively confirmed at today’s nomination proceedings.
The names were announced at the Sabah Cultural Centre by Noemi Dyena Johntren, the Assistant Returning Officer for Kapayan, assisted by Moyog’s Assistant Returning Officer, Andresia A Lojingau.
In Moyog, the ballot will feature an unusual clash between allied coalitions, with Remysta Jimmy Taylor representing Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Joeynodd Aiko Ronald C Bansin standing for Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
Also in the running are WARISAN Vice-President Terence Siambun; UPKO Deputy President Donald Peter Mojuntin; STAR Sabah’s Joseph Suleiman; Francis Mojikon of Perikatan Nasional (PN); Richard Ronald Dompok of PKS; and Walter Norbert Johnny of PBK.
The remaining four candidates in Moyog are Cleftus Stephen Spine of PIS, Mckery Victor Ninin of KDM, and independents Peter Maurice Lidadun and Ricky Richard.
Kapayan, meanwhile, has emerged as one of the most crowded contests of the election with 13 candidates. Those contesting include Chin Ling Ling of PIS, independents Sabariah Aziz and Cyril Gerald Liew, Kuo Lee On of PBK, Wong Kong Fooh of Anak Negeri, and Bernard A Logijin of STAR Sabah.
Also vying for the seat are Edwin Jack Bosi of KDM, Lasius Miki of Pejuang, independent candidate Len Lip Fong, PH’s Jannie Lasimbang, Chin Tek Ming of WARISAN, Billy Joe Dominic of UPKO and Sylvester Molukun of Aspirasi. - November 15, 2025
