INCUMBENT Karanaan State Assemblyman, Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun cautioned that frequent government changes could lead to an unstable political situation, hindering development projects in Sabah.
He said that a few years before Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) took over the government, more time was spent on managing politics than on developing the state.
"Due to the instability, a lot of time is wasted on politics and when this happens, progress is delayed.
"Politics is like football, the more time we spend defending, the less time we have to score goals, which is to develop the state," he said.
With political stability, he said, domestic revenue will increase, thus those who are entrusted with the responsibility will have time to manage development and not just manage politics.
Masidi, who is also the Sabah Finance Minister, urged the people of Sabah to maintain stability because if the government changes every five years, there will be no time to work. – November 7, 2025
