KOTA KINABALU: The number of daily Covid-19 infections in Sabah has returned below the 200-mark, Monday, with 164 cases.
“However, the declining infection rate today (Monday) does not necessarily reflect an improved situation,” said the State’s daily update.
“As usual, the number of test samples on weekends was lower than normal days.
“With only 1,465 test samples, they produced a lower daily positive figure with a high positivity rate of 14.5 per cent.”
On Monday, there are more districts that recorded a decrease in daily cases that those registering an increase.
“However, new infections in Kota Kinabalu continued to increase with 120 new cases, an increase of 16 cases compared to Sunday.
“About 71.6 per cent of new cases in Kota Kinabalu today are through sporadic infections – a sign that the risk of infection in the City is high,” it said.
Fifteen districts did not record any new infections, on Monday, including Kota Belud, Lahad Datu, Sandakan and Sipitang which previously had cases of infection.
Some 163 new case were in Categories 1 and 2, while another one was in Category 4.
