Kota Kinabalu: Sabah’s Covid-19 caseload spiked to 162 on Friday from 126 the day earlier.

Sabah’s Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said the surge was due to a higher positivity rate, which rose to 8.17 per cent on Friday from 6.64 per cent on Thursday.

He said the number of test samples also increased from 1,897 to 1,983.

Kota Kinabalu topped the list with 57 cases, followed by Penampang (14), Papar (11), Kota Belud (9), Lahad Datu (9), Kota Marudu (8) and Tawau (8).

“Seven districts did not record any new cases,” he said in a statement, Friday, adding that all 162 cases were category one and two infections.

No deaths or new clusters were identified.
