
Kota Kinabalu: Eleven-year-old Eldaniella Mayriebel Eldainka is another up and coming muaythai exponent that put Sabah on the world map at the Muaythai Youth World Championship held in Bangkok from September 11-20.
The SJK (C) St Joseph, Papar student won the female combat 10-11 years’ title in the 40kg category by beating her AIN (Russian) opponent in the final and she was also awarded the Ifma rising star award.
Sabah contingent had earlier contributed two golds through Jenna Sheryca Dyna Aby Jasli in the female wai kru 14-15 category and Katiana Funda Kara in the female wai kru 10-11 category.
They also captured two silvers from Jaethan Jonathan Quan (male wai kru 12-13) and Ariesya Dania Abd Latip (female wai kru 14-15) as well as one bronze by Dazaisy Hafiy Aznee (female combat 12-13).

“I feel very happy to win a world title after all the hard work and tears. I am glad I didn’t give up and continued the training,” she said.
Her coach Rozaimy Ahad from Tambuakar Muaythai Club, Papar was also proud of his student achievement.
“I am very proud of the success of my student Bebel. She is very disciplined and committed and put in a lot of effort in training and she sheds a lot of tears as well.
“Her parents and grandmother must be extremely proud as well with their support towards her interest, and I hope she will continue to excel in the sport and her academics.”
Meanwhile, Sabah Muaythai Association president Nazri Razak is delighted with the achievement of the State athletes in contributing to the national contingent’s three golds, three silvers and four bronzes total to finish in ninth place.
He said they will continue their efforts to produce quality athletes to compete on the world stage.
