Kota Kinabalu: The Legend Universal Beauty Pageant delegation once again made waves on the international stage, clinching five major crowns and three subtitle awards at the prestigious World Queen International 2025 pageant held recently in Tainan, Taiwan.
Among the standout achievements was Sabah-born Emmy Mangun, who emerged as the 1st Runner-Up in the Mrs Classic Category.
Representing Borneo, Emmy brought home trophies, a crown, certificates, and other tokens of recognition from the organizers.
The winner and second runner-up in her category were both from Taiwan, underscoring the strong regional presence at the event.
Emmy’s success was a proud moment for Borneo, especially under the mentorship of Borneo National director Kimi Tomas.
Her participation was further supported by Datuk Joanna Kitingan, chairperson of the Unduk Ngadau Kaamatan and a prominent cultural advocate, who joined the delegation in Taiwan to show solidarity for Borneo’s representation.
The Legend Universal team, led by founder Maggie Leong, International Director Sangeet Gill, and team manager Sarah Albert, showcased exceptional grace, charisma, and professionalism.
Their efforts highlighted the unique beauty and cultural richness of women from their 20s to 60s, bringing Borneo’s vibrant heritage to the world stage.
The World Queen International 2025 pageant was more than a competition, it was a celebration of cross-cultural diplomacy and global friendship, said Kimi.
She explained delegates from various countries took part in a series of enriching activities, including a yacht dinner gathering, a welcome dinner and cultural exchange, gift exchanges between nations, a city tour of Tainan, and tastings of traditional Taiwanese cuisine.
The event also featured a sashing ceremony, judges’ interviews focused on advocacy and personal missions, a Cheongsam fashion show, a national costume competition, and an elegant evening gown presentation.
In the Mrs Elegant Category (for participants aged 55 and above), winners hailed from the Philippines, China, Taiwan, and Japan.
Meanwhile, the Mrs Category (for those aged 40 and below) saw victories from representatives of Taiwan, Thailand, and Cambodia.
During the graduation ceremony held at the Qipao Academy in Taiwan, all international participants were honoured for their contributions and achievements.
Kimi Tomas expressed immense pride in Emmy Mangun’s accomplishment, stating, “The victory of Mrs Borneo, Emmy Mangun, as the 1st Runner-Up in the Mrs Classic category in Taiwan is a great pride for both Borneo and Malaysia.
She not only represented Sabah and the Murut ethnic community on the international stage, but also proved that Bornean women possess courage, elegance, and resilience that can truly capture the world’s admiration,” she said.
She also extended her gratitude to the World Queen International Taiwan organization for their warm hospitality and to the Legend Universal team for their unwavering support and preparation.
“This success is a proof that true beauty comes from confidence, culture, and a brave heart.
May this achievement inspire more women from Borneo to step forward and shine on the global stage,” she added.
Joanna Kitingan echoed the sentiment, thanking Taiwan for their warm reception and expressing hope for future cultural exchanges.
“We look forward in welcoming representatives from Taiwan and other nations to visit Borneo in the near future,” she said.
