Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah tenpin bowling team is on a mission to capture the overall title at the 48th National Championship title and 37th Inter-State PS Nathan Cup 2026 beginning today (Monday) at the Sunway Mega Lanes in Selangor.
The State squad, featuring 20 athletes accompanied by 10 officials, including managers and coaches, left for Kuala Lumpur on Sunday.
Sabah State Tenpin Bowling Association president Rozzainy Sham Talip said the team is highly motivated and ambitious, building on their strong performance as last year’s overall runners-up.
“We are on a ‘Mission for Champions.’ Finishing as the overall runners-up last year serves as a powerful motivation for our entire contingent to push even harder.
“I hope all our athletes will deliver their best performances, remain deeply focused, and display a fierce fighting spirit throughout the championship. Ultimately, we want to bring home results that will make every Sabahan proud,” he said.
Meanwhile, team manager Ahmad Jaludin confirmed that the athletes are well-prepared and have successfully completed extensive training sessions that cover technical skills, mental preparedness and game strategies.
“What is important now is for each player to remain calm, focus on their respective games and implement what has been practised throughout the training,” he said.
