Sabah’s leadership hooked by Anwar’s promises: Peja

KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has expressed confidence that the party’s chapter in Sabah will still prevail despite its latest setback.

In a response to The Vibes over the decision by its elected representatives in Sabah to leave the party, Faisal expressed his disappointment but respected the decision by Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor and the other members.

“Despite the people slowly realising how Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) is someone who breaks his promises, Sabah’s leadership are now hooked to his promises for the state.

“I only can pray that Sabah gets its wish and averts any sort of disaster,” he said.

The former Tambun MP added that he is sure the time will come when Sabah’s leaders get to know the “real Anwar”, and that he hopes the country and its people can be rescued.

“I am also impressed by the stance of the (Sabah) Bersatu members who remain loyal to the party and will continue to run Bersatu in Sabah.

“The party’s management will immediately rework the Sabah chapter’s collapsed structure at various levels to reinvigorate the party.

“We are very confident in the people's acceptance and support for Bersatu throughout the country, including in the state of Sabah.

“Bersatu will remain in Sabah and rise from this situation,” he added.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah members in Bersatu have left the party to uphold multi-racialism and a multi-religious society, the coalition’s secretary-general Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said.

The former Sabah Bersatu deputy chief said the decision to quit the Perikatan Nasional component party was thus made “in the best interest of Sabah and the greater good of Malaysia”. – The Vibes, December 10, 2022
