Kota Kinabalu: The voices of Sabah students studying outside the State must be heard, particularly over challenges involving the cost of living, said Chief Minister’s Chief Political Secretary Datuk Azrul Ibrahim.
Azrul said students from the Universiti Malaya Sabah Students Association (Permasa UM) raised issues involving airfares, student accommodation and education opportunities and sponsorships during a courtesy call on him.
“Some of the matters raised have been conveyed to the Chief Minister for his attention and consideration,” he said in a Facebook post.
Azrul said the State Government had introduced initiatives to assist Sabah students, including Budi, GRS SubFly, Sentosa and the Sabah State Education Fund (TPNS).
He said the Sabah State Government Scholarship (BKNS) allocation had also been strengthened with RM155 million allocated in 2026, adding that existing initiatives would continue to be improved to address students’ needs and welfare.
