Kota Kinabalu: Sabah surged to the top of the medal standings at the Malaysia Para-Games (Para Sukma) as at 5pm on Thursday with a total of 12 gold, four silver and five bronze medals.

They overtook overnight leaders Sarawak with the addition of eight gold medals won on the day from Jacklon Ganding (men’s T37 100m), the men’s 4 x 100-metre freestyle team (Jaflee Jikol, Shahafiq Abdullah, Abd Halim Mohammad, Louis Simun), Halim Mohammad (men’s 100-metre breaststroke), Heronlee Wong (men’s F37 javelin), Shamli Waidi (men’s F 36 javelin), Ahmad Ajin Bagudan (men’s F13 javelin), Jaflee Jikol (men’s 100-metre backstroke) and Elissieball Jonal (women’s T20 long jump).
