
Kota Kinabalu: Sabah Aquatic Sports Association (Sasa) returned with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals at the 67th Milo MAS Malaysia Open Swimming Championships 2025 held at the National Aquatic Centre, Bukit Jalil Sports City, Kuala Lumpur from April 24-27.
The only gold was won by Chu Xing Ying in the women’s 100m freestyle event. She also delivered the two bronze medals in the women’s 800m and 400m freestyle, while the silver came from Chui Lai Kwan in the women’s 50m freestyle.
The contingent was led by coaches Benjamin Lee Tshun Min and Sean Goh Song Wee, and the swimmers were Chui Lai Kwan, Chu Xin Ying, Alexis Lee Yen Ling, Laura Lee Yen Nie, Jeanna John Fabian, Tessie Denisee Chua, Shairul Aiman, Arish Amin Ronisafihin, Samuel Ng Chong Cheng, Federer Liew Yi, Ng Ze Heng, Emmanuel Loh Yung Ming, Yong Onn Leong, Shane Chong Kian Heuang, Kevin Hon Lok Chou, Muhammad Ikwan Haziq Abdullah and Jarrel Joibi.window.googletag = window.googletag || {cmd: []};googletag.cmd.push(function() {googletag.defineSlot('/22826383987/dailyexpress_inline', [1, 1], 'gpt-passback').addService(googletag.pubads());googletag.enableServices();googletag.display('gpt-passback');}); Sasa president Daniel Lee congratulated the two medal winners for their achievements in the championships.
He reckoned more hard works need to be done for all the state swimmers towards qualifying for the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma).
He thanked the Youth and Sports Ministry, Sabah Sports Council and Sabah Sports Board for their support.
He added that they would be hosting the National Swimming Sportexcel Circuit Leg 2 here on August 1-3.
