Sabah tops registrations under expanded SKDS diesel scheme

SANDAKAN: Sabah has recorded the highest number of companies registered under the expanded Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS) for company-owned jeeps and pick-up trucks, according to Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali.

Armizan said 5,583 companies involving 10,046 vehicles in Sabah had registered under the new category as of July 23, the highest in the country, while 15 Sandakan companies received SKDS fleet cards during the Festival Jom Malaysia at the Sandakan Sports Complex on Sunday.

He said the targeted diesel subsidy mechanism for Sabah, Sarawak and Labuan came into full effect on July 1 after registration opened on May 4, with 15,388 companies involving 25,781 vehicles nationwide registering under the new category, including sole proprietorships and partnerships operating company-owned jeeps and pick-up trucks.

Armizan said companies approved under the scheme must obtain fleet cards from participating oil companies to purchase subsidised diesel, and urged eligible businesses that have yet to register to apply through the MySubsidi portal while thanking oil companies for facilitating the issuance of fleet cards.

He added that matters relating to diesel subsidies for individual recipients fall under the Ministry of Finance through the Budi Diesel and Budi Agri-Komoditi initiatives, with proposals from Sabah leaders on eligibility criteria to be considered through the coordination platform established between the federal government and the Sabah and Sarawak state governments.
