PENAMPANG: Sabah is uniquely positioned to become a key gateway for Asean's digital and blue economies, according to Malaysia Digital Chamber of Commerce (MDCC) president Eldrick Koh.
His speech, read by MDCC vice president John Lim at the 10th Malaysian Digital Economy Forum (MDEF) 2026 on Tuesday, highlighted the state’s rich marine resources, strategic location, and vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem as core drivers for sustainable regional growth.
Koh noted that digital transformation extends beyond adopting technology to creating better businesses, jobs, and communities, particularly as the forum addresses artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, smart tourism, and the blue economy.
He expressed appreciation to Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun for attending the event, stating that his presence demonstrated Sabah’s strong commitment to digital transformation and sustainable economic development.
The event also featured the signing of Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), the welcoming of new MDCC members, and an awards presentation to recognise outstanding contributors to Malaysia's digital economy.
