Kota Kinabalu: The government’s pronouncement of the implementation of the Large Scale Solar (LSS) together with the Battery Energy Storage System in Sabah which is expected to begin in 2025 has been welcomed by two consumer associations.

Sabah West Coast Smart Consumer Association (SWCSCA Chairman David Chan said the power shortage in Sabah has reached the critical stage that requires serious attention from the government and other departments and agencies, including the Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd (SESB).

He said it is a laudable move taken by the Federal Government to implement renewable energy like building more solar farms and energy storage stations to address the challenge of the current unpredictable extreme weather condition.
