PUTRAJAYA: Kota Kinabalu Mayor Datuk Seri Dr Sabin Samitah and Parliamentary Draftsperson Farahana Rabidin have been appointed as members of the Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (LHDN), while Sarawak State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Dr Wan Lizozman Wan Omar has been re-appointed to the board for a two-year term.
In a statement Friday, the board said the appointments of Sabin, representing the Sabah State Government, and Farahana, representing the Attorney General’s Chambers, took effect last Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Wan Lizozman has been re-appointed as an IRB board member, representing Sarawak for a two-year term, effective from Aug 1 to July 31, 2028.
The primary revenue-collecting agency under the Finance Ministry noted that Sabin had previously led LHDN as Chief Executive Officer and Director-General of Inland Revenue. He also served as Director-General of the National Anti-Financial Crime Centre before his appointment as Kota Kinabalu Mayor.
“His vast experience in taxation, financial crime prevention and public administration complements his role in strengthening the direction and governance of LHDN,” it said.
Meanwhile, LHDN expressed confidence that Farahana’s extensive experience and expertise in the legal field would contribute to strengthening governance, as well as policy and legal considerations in the execution of the board’s responsibilities.
“LHDN hopes that the experience and expertise brought forward will strengthen governance and support the board’s continuous efforts in empowering the country’s revenue administration,” it added.
