MANILA, Philippines — Filipino fighter Jean Claude Saclag bagged a silver medal in the 20th Asian Games after falling to Otabek Rajabov of Tajikistan, 3-0, in the mixed martial arts men's traditional -65kg final at the Nagoya City Inae Sports Center in Japan on Tuesday afternoon.
Saclag scored an early knockdown but Rajabov bounced back and turned the fight into a ground game which he dominated.
With his striking game negated, Saclag found no counter to Rajabov whose wrestling and ground game proved topnotch.
Saclag nonetheless gave the Philippines its first silver medal in the ongoing continental meet, raising the country's medal haul to four following three bronzes.
