Fresh off its launch of their flagship foldables, Samsung is unfortunately following it up with some unfortunate news for Malaysians. The Korean giant is raising the prices of their entry level Galaxy A series smartphones by up to RM200, bringing them up above the RM1,000 mark.
The Galaxy A07 LTE with 256GB of storage is now priced at RM1,049, up from RM899, while the 256GB Galaxy A07 5G now starts at RM1,149, up from RM1,029. Meanwhile, the 256GB Galaxy A17 LTE has been revised from RM949 to RM1,149, with the 256GB Galaxy A17 5G now at RM1,299, having previously been at RM1,149.
These new prices are now live on the Samsung Malaysia website, while the cheaper configurations with 128GB of storage appear to no longer be in stock.
According to Samsung, this price revision has come due to the ongoing increases in global component, especially for memory chips, as tech giants continue to build more AI infrastructure and data centers.
While unfortunate, the bright side is that you should still be able to find some of these smartphones priced closer to their old retail prices. At time of writing, we were still able to find the likes of the Galaxy A07 5G and even the Galaxy A17 5G between the RM800 and RM1,000 mark over on Shopee Mall, though for how long these lower prices would stay remains to be seen.
