SANDAKAN: The Sandakan Christmas 2023 event represents a strong collaboration to promote the national agenda and enhance unity among the people.

Tanjung Papat Assemblyman, Datuk Frankie Poon, said the ceremony demonstrates the close ties among the people, setting an example for the Madani Malaysia concept.

“The Sandakan Christmas is held annually since 2011. It was put on hold in 2020-2022 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“However, this year, thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Sandakan Municipal Council and Sandakan Inter Church, the Christmas celebration can resume.

“As a result, we should recognise the significance of such celebration and utilise them to reinforce the spirit of goodwill and harmony, embodying the principles of Madani Malaysia,” he said.

Frankie said this while officiating at the district-level 2023 Christmas Celebration at the Padang Bandaran, recently.

The event was attended by local leaders, Sandakan InterChurch committee Chairman Reverend Khoo Keng Shiang and the local community.

Frankie also urged the community to seize the opportunity to foster unity.

“Hopefully, more success will be created for us and the generations to come regardless race, ethnicity or religion,” he said.
