
SANDAKAN: Elopura Assemblyman Calvin Chong claimed the staff government has little or no interest in helping the people of Sandakan.
The Warisan Assemblyman said all the funding so far have not benefitted the people here.
“Out of the RM1 billion total allocation approved by the State government and RM100 million allocated to the Water Department, nothing specifically addresses the people of Sandakan,” he said.
Chong raised several issues at the recent assembly sitting, including the problem of poor quality and saline water supply, underdevelopment of Sandakan tourism, the MM2H issue, road conditions, lack of affordable housing and the limited education hub.

Read more He also questioned the State government on the latest progress of the Duchess of Kent Hospital upgrade project, which continues to face issues such as inadequate parking space, beds and doctors, among others.
The Ministry said the State government plans to expand the hospital with a budget of RM400 million and initial work is currently underway with an allocation of RM2 million.
Chong said he is no longer as enthusiastic or confident upon hearing hundreds of millions in allocations.
