SANDAKAN: Sandakan Heritage Trail volunteer group headed by Lai King Hang as the Founder and Chairman of Sandakan Heritage Trail made official courtesy call to the new President of Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS), Walter Kenson at his office, Saturday.
Lai briefed him about the background and information of their programme since 2003 and shared to him the objectives and achievements since its inception 22 years ago. He also proposed to put in more events especially relating to history in the town centre to attract more tourists spending time in Sandakan town proper.
At the moment, Sandakan Heritage Trail is popular with visitors as a self-guided and free activity within the town area.
He hoped the council would continue to upkeep the cleanliness along the heritage route so as to start promoting Visit Malaysia 2026. Lai also extended invitation to Walter to participate in the jointly event organised with the St Cecilia’s Alumnae Association known as the Sandakan Heritage Trail Walk — walk to stay fit and know history of Sandakan on March 15.
Also present were Lily Aw who is the President of St Cecilia’s Alumni and her committee members.
CK Teo, who is also the President of Sandakan Tourism Association, was also in the delegation meeting with the new MPS President.
