Sandigan court rejects Revilla’s second bid to remove Justice Miranda from case

MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Third Division denied Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr.’s second motion seeking the inhibition of Associate Justice Karl B. Miranda, finding the plea “without merit.”

Third Division clerk of court lawyer Dennis Pulma told The Manila Times on Tuesday that the court issued the resolution on Sept. 24, 2026 directing Miranda to continue sitting on and hearing the case.

Revilla had sought Miranda’s inhibition over concerns involving the justice’s brother, lawyer Buenaventura Miranda, who represented former Public Works Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo, a prosecution witness.

The court said Revilla failed to present clear and convincing evidence of bias or partiality warranting Miranda’s inhibition.
