THE Sandiganbayan Third Division deferred the arraignment of former senator Ramon Revilla Jr. in the malversation case filed against him and six others in connection with an allegedly anomalous government project in Bulacan.

Revilla and co-accused Juanito Mendoza were scheduled for arraignment Monday, but the court moved the proceedings to Feb. 16, citing pending motions.

Their co-accused, Brice Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, Arjay Domasig, Emelita Juat, and Christina Mae Pineda pleaded not guilty to the charge.

All seven accused are detained.

Last Thursday, the court denied Revilla’s motion to quash the charge sheet for lack of merit. He has filed a motion for reconsideration.

Last month, the Office of the Ombudsman filed the malversation through falsification case and a graft case against the seven accused.

Also on Monday, the Sandiganbayan Fourth Division entered a not guilty plea for Revilla after he refused to enter a plea in the arraignment in the graft case. Domasig and Mendoza pleaded not guilty.

Hernandez, Jaypee Mendoza, and Pineda entered a not guilty plea earlier.
