MANILA, Philippines — The Sandiganbayan Sixth Division suspended Uswag Ilonggo party-list lawmaker James Ang Ditang Jr. for 90 days pending the resolution of his graft cases.
A resolution promulgated on Sept. 21, 2026 said the requirements for preventive suspension under Section 13 of Republic Act 3019, or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, had been met.
Ang’s motion to quash the informations was denied on Aug. 24. He pleaded not guilty on Sept. 1, which the court said waived any remaining objection to the validity of the informations.
The suspension covers Ang’s membership in the House of Representatives and any other public position he may hold. It takes effect upon receipt of the resolution.
Speaker Faustino Dy III was directed to implement the order and report to the Sandiganbayan within 15 days from receipt of the resolution on the action taken.
The 90-day suspension will automatically be lifted upon expiration of the period from its implementation.
The Manila Times is still awaiting Dy’s response to the suspension order.
